Established to recognize the accomplishments of former APhA Senior Vice President of Practice Affairs, Anne Burns. Anne is most noted for her gracious manner and influential leadership in pharmacy practice change across the profession. She is considered the key to the evolution of Community-based Pharmacy Residency Programs and was recognized in 2013 with the first APhA Community Pharmacy residency Program Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Anne Burns Community-based Pharmacy Residency Award, for Community-based Residency Excellence in Precepting recognizes a community pharmacy residency director or preceptor who has demonstrated excellence in precepting, mentoring, leadership, and community pharmacy residency program administration. The award, originally established in 2003, is intended to recognize pharmacy practitioners who excel as community-based pharmacy residency directors or preceptors.
